CEVA Season 2 - Heritage Edition.

Divisions Overview

Day 1 of the tournament will feature pool play, with 3 Men’s pools and 1 Women’s pool. Day 2 will transition into a double elimination format, with separate Winners and Losers Brackets to determine the final champions.

Day 1 Format

Total Pools: 4 Pools

  • Men’s Pool A - 8 teams
  • Men’s Pool B - 9 teams
  • Men’s Pool C - 9 teams
  • Women’s Pool - 6 teams

Pool Play:

Teams will compete in pool play matches throughout Day 1

Each team is guaranteed 4 games

Each match consists of 2 sets played to 25 points (cap)

Matches will have a 45-minute time cap

If the 2 sets are completed before 45 minutes, the match ends normally

If 45 minutes is reached before both sets are completed, the match will be stopped immediately

Standings after pool play will determine Day 2 playoff seeding

Day 1 Rankings and Seeding for Day 2

After Day 1, teams will be ranked based on the following criteria:

1. Sets Won: Teams with the highest number of sets won will rank higher.

  • Example: A team with a 7-1 record ranks higher than a team with a 6-2 record.

2. Point Ratio: If tied in sets won, the ranking will be determined by point ratio:

  • Calculated as overall points earned / overall points lost. The team with the higher ratio will be ranked higher.

3. Win Over (Head-to-Head): If teams are still tied after sets won and point ratio, the result of the head-to-head match (if applicable) will determine the higher rank.

  • If the teams did not play each other, a death match to 5 points (capped) will determine the ranking.

Men’s Division:

The top 8 teams will advance to the Competitive Division.

The middle 9 teams will battle it out in the Intermediate Plus Division.

The bottom 9 teams will continue in the Intermediate Division

Rankings will be determined from combined pool results

Day 2 : Double Elimination Format

Elimination Format: Day 2 follows a double-elimination structure with Winners and Losers Brackets:

Teams that lose a game in the Winner’s Bracket drop into the Losers Bracket.

In the Losers Bracket, it’s do-or-die, a loss means elimination.

Finals: The championship match will feature:

Winner of the Winner’s Bracket vs. Winner of the Loser’s Bracket.

The team from the Winner’s Bracket will have a “twice-to-beat” advantage. If the Loser’s Bracket team wins the final match (best of 3), one last set will be played to decide the ultimate champion.

Scoring Caps:

Winner’s Bracket: 1st and 2nd set, points to 25 no cap. 3rd set, points to 15 no cap

Games in the Loser’s Bracket are only a set, points to 30 no cap
